WKCEs

Dear Families,

Among many updates that are heading your way, I wanted to designate a post specifically about WKCE testing. We will be taking the Math and Reading tests in the beginning of November. These tests provide us with a measure of your student's academic progress from year to year.

We will discuss test taking strategies both next week and during the testing weeks. With strategies in place, students have different ways to approach the test. In addition to having the tools at school, as always, it is extremely important for students to have them at home. Remind them to get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy and hearty breakfast, bring an energy-boosting snack, and have confidence in themselves. Believing they can reach new heights can make a world of difference! Please help your students by being even more supportive of these healthy habits during this time.

Spelling Words

This week's words to work on:

correct, bed, measure, straight, base


Students will see these words continuously throughout the week's Spelling Activities. On our Apple Activities sheet, these words are at the core of skill building. Each day, students will be assigned a certain section on the Apple Activities sheet to complete.

You may have seen our Spelling Activities gridbox come home last week. These are fun activities for students to build their familiarity with those tough words. The more they practice using and writing words, the easier it will be for them to remember how to spell them.

Remember to practice words at home to solidify the patterning and build vocabulary.

Progress Reports

Although a tad later than expected, your students' progress reports are here! They were sent home yesterday afternoon with your student. Please be sure to check for it. This is only a midway point for the quarter. Students have plenty of opportunities to raise their grades or hand in any missing work. They do not need to be signed or returned. These also serve as a reminder to keep working hard in order to maintain grades.

Words to Work On...

Good Evening Families,

We have a new list of core words for our Sitton Spelling unit this week. Please know that students record words to work on for every unit. I encourage students to write these in their assignment notebook or take the list home (with the promise of it returning to our classroom) and practice, practice. Many of our units focus on homophones this year; help stomp out any confusion with diligent practice and use of these words.
